The Third Triumph of Christ's Resurrection

Edward F. Lundwall, Jr.

A Third Triumph: A New People!

Another triumph of Christ's resurrection is that in Him, a new people are created! He becomes the second Adam and the last Man! Adam was the race head of all his children, the human race. When God created Adam, he created the life of all men, which is passed on through sexual reproduction from our first parents. When Adam sinned, his life was corrupted and became sinful. Therefore, the life that he passed on to his children was his sinful nature because it is self-centered and has a rebellious bent away from God the Creator (Rom. 5:12). And, "For since by man came death, by man (Christ) came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive; but every man in his own order: Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming" (1 Cor. 15:21-23). When Jesus comes again, all those who belong to him by faith and spiritual rebirth, will participate in physical resurrection (1 Thess. 4:13-17).

Since only the Jews had an identifying covenant that made them God’s chosen people, this is especially important for us Gentiles (non-Jewish) peoples. Only the Jews had this, so we could only receive scraps from the table of the Israelites (Matt. 15:26-28). Yet upon Christ resurrection, He builds a new group of chosen, called out people, made up of those who believe that He was who He said He was (Matt. 16:13-20). In Greek, it is called ekklesia...a called out and organized assembly of believers, recognized today as the universal church.
