Praying through Psalm 34

Psalm 34 is a song of praise for God's goodness, protection of the righteous, and the blessings that await those who put their trust in Him.

Our Father,

May our mouths continually praise your great and worthy name. Because of whom

you are, our hearts cannot help but boast in all that you’ve done. Align and unite our hearts to

worship and glorify you in unity to proclaim your greatness for you are a God who hears, a God

who answers, a God who delivers us from our fears, and comforts us in times of trouble. You

are the true source of joy. You and only you can free us from the guilt and shame of our sins.

When we cry out, you protect become a place of refuge to those who fear you. You are totally

sufficient, and we can rest and find peace in knowing that you provide for our every need; we

lack no good thing.

God, you show us how to live lives of joy on earth as we await our eternal home. Help

us turn away from evil and toward good. Help us seek and demonstrate peace in a world of

chaos and uncertainty. May we declare your righteousness and justice for although you do not

tolerate sin, in your mercy, you provided a path of restoration so that all may live in relationship

with you. You are near to the brokenhearted and save the crushed in spirit. You’re a source of

hope to the hopeless. We are never alone in our struggles, and you never tire of hearing our

repeated cries. You deliver us from evil; you fulfill all that you promise. We praise you for

because you sacrificed you Son on the cross, we are free from condemnation and experience

true redemption. Because of you, we have been freed from the chains of sin, guilt, and shame.

Help us to reflect this in the way we live our lives on earth.

As we leave here today, may we recount your goodness in our own lives and draw

others to do the same. God, we’ve tasted and seen that you are good. We don’t have to

borrow from other’s experiences because we’ve experienced your goodness first-hand.

Because your goodness is anchored in your character and not in ever-changing circumstances,

we can rest assured that you are always good, and you are always near to those who call upon

you.

In your precious and holy name, Amen.
