Todd Smith
Lord, from long ago, you have been a safe home for us, a shelter times in trouble. From before
you made the world and the mountains rose, you were eternal God. You number our days and
you alone control when they will end. Our lives are like the morning grass, that dries up,
browns, and dies by evening, but to you even a thousand years is only a short time.
Lord, your holiness cannot tolerate the sin, which destroys us and gives us trouble all our lives.
However, being rich in mercy and faithful love for us, you have made a way. Even when we
were dead in our sins, you made us alive in Christ. With confidence, we know that we are
saved only by your grace.
Help us, Lord, to live each day in your wisdom. Empower us with your Holy Spirit to be satisfied
with your faithful love every morning you grant us, and to walk through all our limited days
with you, and in your ways. Lord, prepare our hearts and hands to be used by you. Lead us
that we might exemplify your love and power. Be kind to us and show us your favor; establish
the work of our hands that we may honor you in all that we are and do.
Amen.
